DUSHANBE, April 2, Asia-Plus -- Bakhtiyor Hamdamov, formerly deputy head of the Committee for Youth, Sports and tourism Affairs, has been appointed as editor-in-chief of Minbari Khalq (Tribune of People), a mouthpiece of ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDPT), replacing Abdusamad Mahmadkarimov.
We will recall that Mahmadkarimov was removed from his position as editor-in-chief of Minbari Khalq in early February. The source at the PDPT Central Committee said that President Emomali Rahmon, who is the chairman of the party, made a decision on dismissing the Minbari Khalq editor on February 1.

Bakhtiyor Hamdamov, 40, graduated from the Department of Tajik Philology and Literature at Dushanbe Teacher’s Training Institute in 1992. From 2000 to 2002 with the Dushanbe weekly Javononi Tojikiston (Youth of Tajikistan). He had worked with the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs since 2002. Since December 2006, Hamdamov had worked as deputy head of the committee in charge of the tourism.
