KULOB, July 24, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Over the past school year, 69 teachers from Khatlon’s Shuroobod district have left for the Russian Federation in search of seasonal work, Asia-Plus has leaned from the Shuroobod education department head Roziq Sodiqov.
According to him, they have been replaced by young inexperienced teachers. “58 young teachers have been accepted to work with schools in Shuroobod,” said Sodiqov, “Besides, we are currently conducting negotiations with Kulob State University on sending 30 senior students to the district.”
Repairs to schools and preparations for a new school year are under way in Shuroobod and the majority of schools are expected to be made ready by August 1, the education department head said.
Sodiqov noted that this school year, 17 classes had been placed in private residential buildings and they are currently taking measures to reduce the number of such classes at least by 50 percent by the new school year.
