DUSHANBE, November 3, 2008, Asia-Plus - The winter crops sowing campaign is progressing in Tajikistan, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Narzullo Dadaboyev, a spokesman for a MoA, said that in all, winter crops would be planted on an area of 229,500 hectares of irrigated lands. Farmers have planted winter crops on 50,856 hectares by November 1.
The Sughd farmers have reached 42.5 percent of the winter crops sowing target so far, having planted winter crops on the area of 29,269 hectares, while farmers in the southern Khatlon province have planted winter wheat on the area of 17,146 hectares by November 1, the spokesman said
