In Tajikistan, heavy rains on August 27 provoked natural disasters that claimed the lives of 13 people in the city of Vakhdat and Rudaki district, the press service of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.

11 people were killed in Vakhdat, 2 people became victims of the disaster in Rudaki area, the report says.

It is not specified under what circumstances people died.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed his deep condolences to the families of the victims and all the survivors who faced this tragedy.

The Head of State also gave relevant instructions to the Prime Minister, the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, as well as other competent authorities to provide emergency assistance to the families of victims and to carry out operational measures to eliminate the consequences of an emergency.

Heavy rainfall on Sunday also seriously damaged sections of the Dushanbe-Khujand road: mudslides, landslides, rockfalls were recorded there. Traffic on the highway was temporarily suspended.

Recall that forecasters had previously warned about unstable weather on August 27-28.
