In Bokhtar, it is planned to reconstruct one of the historical sites of the city "Teppai Kurgan" (Kurgan Hill), which has become the hallmark of the city.

It was closed three years ago due to the fact that it was in disrepair. The "Bibikhonum" Museum of Local History, which was located in the upper part of the hill, was moved to the building of the Palace of Culture of the city.

According to the city administration, 4.9 million somoni has been allocated from the regional budget of Khatlon for the current year for reconstruction, but work has not yet begun there.

In general, the total cost of the reconstruction of "Teppai Kurgon" is estimated at 50 million somoni.

Davlatali Said, the head of the Khatlon region, commented on the reason for the delay in construction work at a press conference following the results of six months.

"4.9 million somoni for construction work were provided in the budget of the region in 2024, the architects designed the facility. But for any repair or construction work on a historical and cultural site, an archaeologist's opinion is needed. We applied to the National Academy of Sciences of the country and the Ministry of Culture. As soon as we receive the conclusion, restructuring work will begin immediately," said Davlatali Said.

The head of the region also noted that they plan to finish the work before the 35th anniversary of the country's independence (2026).

According to the new project, it is planned to build a teahouse, the building of the registry office of Bokhtar city and other facilities in "Teppai Kurgan".
