DUSHANBE, March 7, 2011, Asia-Plus -- In 2010, money transfers between Tajikistan and Russia totaled 2.298 billion U.S. dollars, the Central Bank of Russia reports.
According to Russian central bank, 2.216 billion U.S. dollars were remitted from Russia to banks in Tajikistan and 83 billion U.S. dollars were remitted from Tajikistan to Russia last year.
An average amount of one operation from Russia to Tajikistan is estimated at US$396, while an average amount of one operation from Tajikistan to Russia was estimated at US$1,096.
Tajikistan is ranked second in terms of money remittances from the Russian Federation. It is followed by Ukraine (US$1.809 billion were remitted from Russia to banks in Ukraine in 2010). Last year, Uzbekistan was leader in remittances from Russia (2.845 billion U.S. dollars were remitted from Russia to Uzbekistan last year).
The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has not yet published the remittance information for 2010. According to Tajik central bank, 2.1 billion U.S. dollars have been remitted to Tajikistan over the first eleven months of 2010.
