Dushanbe. 26 August. “Asia-Plus” – Cotton farmers in Qorghan-Teppa area districts in Khatlan Province began the harvest of cotton have started to harvest cotton.
Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus that farmers have been able to collect approximately 4.3 thousand tons of cotton, which is 3.4 thousand tons more than the amount for this period last year.
However, general campaign to harvest cotton in the country has not begun yet. In districts of Kulab area in Khatlan Province and in cotton-harvesting districts of central subordination preparatory work is currently being done.
Cotton collection in Soghd Province annually starts later due to climate conditions.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, cotton was seeded in an area of 192 hectares this year. Last year cotton was seeded in an area of 200 thousand hectares in Tajikistan, and the harvest was 415 thousand tons.
