DUSHANBE, January 25, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Barqi Tojik (the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan) reported that total electricity generation in December 2013 was 1.418 billion kWh, which 8 percent or 42.4 million kWh more than in November 2012.
Meanwhile, electricity generation last month was 78 million kWh fewer than in December 2012.
The monthly report for January 2014, Monitoring and Early Warning in Tajikistan , notes that total electricity consumption in December 2013 was 1.368 billion kWh, which was 10.1 percent more compared to November 2013.
In December 2013, 41 million kWh of electricity was supplied to Afghanistan from Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plants (HPPs), 17.4 million kWh more than in the same period of 2012.
According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, Tajikistan last year exported US$33.3 million worth of electric power, which was nearly 156 percent of the 2012 level.
