DUSHANBE, January 31, 2014, Asia-Plus - The U.S. Central Command (CENTOCM) intends to procure commodities from companies in the Central Asian States (CAS) for deliveries to Afghanistan.

CENTCOM Joint Theater Support Contracting Center (C-JTSCC) Desk Officer notes that the U.S. Central Command, under the Portal to CAS Business Project, intends to procure an estimated US$100 million in commodities from producers in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

C-JTSCC will procure construction materials, furniture, electronic items, medical goods, generators, retention items, printed items, household and office equipment, among other supplies for delivery to Afghanistan.

“The C-JTSCC intends to support businesses in Tajikistan and the other Central Asian States.  Procurements will be announced through request for quotes in which CAS private entrepreneurs and companies will be given priority,” says Almaz Dushembiev, the Portal to CAS Business Project Manager.  “Procurements will be made through the Portal to CAS Businesses sponsored by C-JTSCC.”

According to the C-JTSCC Contracting Office Representative, the Portal will contribute to the development of regional competition and support local business development. The Portal will provide CAS businesses with free advisory support, including a number of training events.

The next training event entitled “How to Do Business with United States Government Contracting Authorities” will take place at Dushanbe’s Hyatt Regency Hotel on February 20, 2014. C-JTSCC representatives will be on hand to answer questions about C-JTSCC procurements.
