DUSHANBE, May 29, 2015, Asia-Plus -- Tajik farmers have completed a grain-sowing campaign.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), they have planted cereals on 122,000 hectares by May 23, which is 14.7 percent more than it was originally planned.

This year, farmers were expected plant cereals on 106,200 hectares, an official source at a MoA told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“To-date, farmers have planted potatoes on 17,800 hectares, which is 84.2 percent of the target” said the source.  “In all, 21,100 hectares have been allocated this year to potato cultivation.”   

Meanwhile, 29,400 hectares have been allocated to vegetables this year, and farmers have planted vegetables on 26,800 hectares by May 23, which is 91 percent of the target.
