The Russian Embassy in Dushanbe says the Russian Federation and Tajikistan have discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of energy.
On Sunday May 22, Tajikistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Usmonali Usmonzoda and Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma met here with Russian Minister of Energy Nikolai Shulginov, who is currently in Dushanbe on a working visit.
The parties reportedly discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, the operation of the joint enterprise Open Joint-Stock Company Sangtudinskaya Ges-1, which operates the Sangtuda-1 hydropower plant, and trouble-free operation of power systems in the Central Asian region.
According to the Russian Embassy, Shulginov called on his Tajik colleagues to support participation of the Russian Federation in the Central Asian Electric Power Coordination Council as a full member.
An official source within the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan (MoEWR) has confirmed the meeting and stated that “the meeting details will be provided soon.”
