Eight people were killed and one injured on December 28 as two cars collided near the village of Elok, which is subordinate to Vahdat Township, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.
The incident reportedly took place in the afternoon at around 2:40 pm.
Opel-Astra, driven by the 21-year-l resident of the Muminobod district (Khatlon province) Shamshod Izzatov, went into oncoming traffic and crashed into Opel-Astra, driven by the 58-year-old resident of the city of Nurek Amir Saidov, the Interior Ministry’s website says.
As a result of the collision, both drivers and six their passengers sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old resident of the Vose district Malikmo Majidova, who was in the car driven by Amir Saidov, sustained various injuries and was taken to the Vahdat central hospital.
The cause of the accident is under way.
