A fire that broke at the central bazaar in the western city of Tursunzoda has destroyed five household goods shops.  No injured was reportedly injured.

The fire took place at the bazaar in the afternoon of December 15.  According to some sources, the fire was caused by electricity malfunction at one of the shops.

One of merchants running shops at the Tursunzoda bazaar told Asia-Plus on the basis of anonymity that not all merchants have observed the rules of fire safety.

“Moreover, electricity is often cut off in the bazaar and then is switched on suddenly,” said the source.  “It often happens that the electricity is connected without notice.”

No injured was reported, according to the source.

Eyewitnesses say lack of order in the bazaar stalls and lack of water have made it difficult for firefighters to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the major version is that the fire was caused by electricity malfunction.
