A knife-wielding man has attacked a Tajik consular officer in Moscow.
Representative of the Tajik Embassy in Moscow told Asia-Plus that the incident took place in the Embassy building yesterday afternoon.
“The assailant has been detained; he has been neutralized by security officers. There were no casualties,” the source said.
According to him, the assailant was identified as Shomil Mustaqimzoda, 28, who has been wanted by Tajik police under provisions of Article 307 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – organization of activities of an extremist group.
The source noted that perhaps Mustaqimzoda is collaborating with or is member of any extremist or terrorist group.
“When detained, he shouted out radical slogans,” the source added.
Meanwhile, Sputnik Tajikistan says that Shomil Mustaqimzoda is supporter of the Islamic State (IS) terror group.
