Nasrullo Mahmudov, prosecutor of the Dushanbe district of Ismoili Somoni, remarked this today morning in his interview with Asia-Plus commenting on the blaze that occurred in the “Chorbogh” orphanage on the night of January 7-8.
According to him, the Ismoili Somoni district prosecutor’s office instituted criminal proceedings against the orphanage’s bursar Ilhom Ashurov in last November already. He faced charges under Article 192, Part 1 of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code – not satisfying requirements of the fire-prevention measures. On November a court in Ismoili Somonis district of Dushanbe found Ashurov guilty and imposed a fine of hundred minimal wages on him, according to the prosecutor. “The other reason for the fire was short circuit that was also caused by negligence of the orphanage’s administration,” Nasrullo Mahmudov said.
The prosecutor also denied reports by some media that grilles had allegedly been placed on the orphanage’s windows as “unfounded”.
