DUSHANBE, March 29, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Most Likely, the Communist Party (CPT) will not nominate its own candidate for the upcoming parliamentary by-election and will support the candidate nominated by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
CPT leader Shodi Shabdolov told Asia-Plus today that Communists will support candidacy of the Security Council Secretary Amirqul Azimov who has been nominated for the by-election by the ruling People’s Democratic Party.
“We know that Amirqul Azimov is running in the by-election for a seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) as an unaffiliated candidate,” said Shabdolov, “He is highly experienced lawyer and has done a lot for reestablishment of peace and stability in the country.”
Meanwhile, the Agrarian Party (APT) leader Amir Qaragulov says the APT political council will meet today to discuss issues related to nomination of APT’s candidate for the upcoming parliamentary by-election due on May 15.
