DUSHANBE, April 4, 2011, Asia-Plus -- At the end of last week, Tajik Ambassador to Uzbekistan Muzaffar Huseinov presented credentials to Uzbek President Islam Karimov, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
Following the credentials-presenting ceremony, the two discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries as well as a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest in the warm atmosphere.
They stressed that the Tajik and Uzbek peoples shared bonds of friendship and neighborliness reaching back thousand of years and based on commonality of traditions and culture.
It was noted that legal foundation of bilateral cooperation between the two countries included a number of interstate documents and the Tajik-Uzbek joint commission considered topical issues related to expansion of economic and cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
According to the Uzbek presidential press center, Tajik Ambassador Huseinov noted that Tajikistan and Uzbekistan also collaborated within framework of regional and international organizations and said that he would take efforts to promote further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
