DUSHANBE, April 20, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi yesterday met here with Sergey Lebedev, Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
According to the Tajik MFA department of information, press, analysis and planning of foreign policy, the sides discussed preparations for the CIS events that will take place in the Tajik capital in September this year. Tajik minister asked the CIS executive secretary to coordinate dates of the upcoming events.
In the course of the talks, Zarifi stressed that in accordance with the concept of rotating CIS chairmanship, Tajikistan focused on implementation of the plan of events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the founding of the CIS and the concept of further development of the CIS, the source said.
Lebedev, for his part, informed Zarifi of state of preparation of documents that will be signed during the upcoming meetings in Dushanbe.
The CIS executive secretary reportedly highly appraised Tajikistan’s contribution to intensification of activities of the majority of the CIS bodies for sectoral cooperation and participation of the country in implementation of the CIS documents.
