DUSHANBE, June 19, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Dilshod Ismatulloyev, currently deputy director of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant under construction, will replace late Khadicha Hakimova in the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament, Usmon Solehov, head of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) public relations department, told Asia-Plus today.
Ms. Khadicha Hakimova, deputy of Tajikistan lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) died in Dushanbe Monday morning aged 49 after a short illness.
Since Khadicha Hakimova came to the parliament from the party list, the candidate who followed her on the party list replaces her in the parliament without holding of election.
We will recall that of 63 seats in the Majlisi Namoyandagon, 22 seats come from party lists. The remainder is elected in first-past-the-post races. The ruling People’s Democratic Party now controls some 70 percent of the seats in the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan is the biggest political party in Tajikistan. Its chairman is President Emomali Rahmon. It is the largest party, boasting more than 160,000 registered members. The official newspaper of the party is Minbari Khalq .
