On Thursday September 27, Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda met in New York with Un Secretary-General António Guterres on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the two sides discussed key issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations, including issues related to the socioeconomic development of Tajikistan and the United Nations’ support for those processes.
Rasoulzoda and Guterres reportedly also exchanged views on practical implementation “of the global initiative of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon regarding the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028.”
Meanwhile, the UN News Center notes that the Secretary-General and the Prime Minister of Tajikistan discussed national and regional developments in Central Asia, including in the context of Afghanistan. The Secretary-General reportedly welcomed Tajikistan’s leadership on water-related issues, particularly in relation to the Water Action Decade 2018-2028.
