On Wednesday September 10, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin met in Moscow with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi on the sidelines of the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO-CFM), according to the Tajik MFA information department.
In the course of the talks, the two reportedly expressed satisfaction with current level of political interaction between Tajikistan and Pakistan and discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas being of mutual interest.
They also discussed the results of a meeting of the Joint Business Council and agreed to use more actively the existing potential to increase the bilateral trade.
A special attention was reportedly given to the issue of implementation of the CASA-1000 Project.
Pakistani foreign minister cordially congratulated Sirojiddin Muhriddin on the 29th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan says the two Foreign Ministers resolved to focus on increasing bilateral trade, connectivity and people-to-people contacts in line with the vision of the two leaderships. In this regard, it was reportedly agreed that the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) and multiple Joint Working Groups (JWGs) in the areas of Trade, Investment, Transport, Industry, Agriculture and Tourism are useful platforms to achieve the desired goals.
They also exchanged views on the ongoing efforts to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan. Shah Mehmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to facilitate peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
The two Foreign Ministers reportedly shared experiences to contain COVID-19 pandemic in the two countries.
The two sides agreed to continue interactions at all levels to further intensify bilateral cooperation.
