On October 3, the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, took part and spoke at the 3rd Session of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) titled "Sports Diplomacy" in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

In his statement delivered at the summit, Emomali Rahmon reportedly assessed this session as an important basis for communication and cooperation between the countries of the region and the world.

It was emphasized that Tajikistan is interested in cooperation in all areas defined in the framework of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, including issues of sports development, enhancement of its infrastructure, promotion of healthy life and proper education of the young generation.

Tajik leader reportedly mentioned with satisfaction the proposal of Tajikistan in connection with the "World Football Day", according to which the relevant Resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations was adopted.

Asian countries were invited to take into account their ancient history, civilization and rich national traditions, to show serious importance to the revival of various types of national sports, their protection for future generations and the education of young people in the spirit of humanity, tolerance and friendship.

Emomali Rahmon called the holding of the first World Wrestling Championship and the World Judo Competition among youth in Dushanbe in 2024 as important measures of the Government of Tajikistan for future generations.

It was stressed that Tajikistan considers "Sports Diplomacy", along with other areas of cooperation, as a favorable tool for sustainable development, strengthening regional integration and, in general, a suitable basis for the implementation of the Vision for cooperation in Asia in the period up to 2030.

Emomali Rahmon drew the attention of the member countries of the Dialogue of Cooperation to the issues of continuous holding of international sports events with greater involvement of the youth of the region. In this context, it was proposed to establish permanent working contacts between the sports clubs of the Dialogue member countries in order to strengthen the process of sharing best practices and development of joint sports events.

In his statement, Emomali Rahmon also raised the issues of poverty reduction, economic and social development, expansion of the commercial and financial market in Asia, and strengthening the economic competitiveness of this vast region in the global market.
