DUSHANBE, March 6, Asia-Plus - Implementation of mayor’s resolution on construction of parking sites and improvement of parks and public gardens were discussed at a March 5 meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev had urged to tighten control of improvement of parks and other public places in the capital city.
According to the spokesman, the ministry of defense was requested to send servicemen of military units stationed in Dushanbe to subbotiniks (voluntary work) on improvement of parks and public gardens and chairmen of the Dushanbe districts are to provide hot meals for servicemen participating in subbotiniks.
Saidov added that by mayor’s resolution a special two-month ecological operation, dubbed “2007 Cleanness of Banks”, is being carried out along banks of Dushanbinka and Luchob rivers and canals in Dushanbe from March 3 to May 3.
During the meeting it was also noted that by president’s decree of July 20, 2000 casinos and other gambling houses are banned to function in the country.
Ubaidulloyev charged a special commission comprising representatives from the Dushanbe legislature (Majlis) to inspect all gambling houses in the city and prepare proposals on their further functioning, according to the spokesman.
“The Dushanbe culture directorate is to project a concept of development of culture in Dushanbe,” Shavkat Saidov said.
