DUSHANBE, March 10, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmonov presided over a meeting with participation of chiefs of the power-wielding agencies on March 9.  

According to presidential press service, the meeting focused on the crime situation in Tajikistan as well as tasks to prevent crime, corruption and drug trafficking in the country.  

Abdufattoh Sharipov, a spokesman for the president, said that the meeting also considered issues related to raising fighting efficiency of the country’s armed forces and improving living level of servicemen.  

Participants at the meeting also discussed the power shortages problems connected with decline in the water level in the reservoir powering the Norak hydroelectric power station (HPS) and illegal use of electrical power.  “The resident set concrete tasks to remove existing shortcomings,” the spokesman said.   

Tajikistan counternarcotics agency, border troops and other relevant bodies are to take adequate measures in connection with increase in drug production in Afghanistan, presidential press service noted.
