DUSHANBE, November 14, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A November 13 meeting of the government, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, discussed issue related to implementation of investment projects for management of flood risks and rehabilitation of irrigation systems in the regions, according to presidential press service.
Reporting on the process of implementation of the projects, Rustam Barotov, the director of the projects implementation unit (PIU), noted that one of the projects for management of flood risks and rehabilitation of irrigation systems was being implemented in the city of Kulob as well as in Vose, Hamadoni and Farkhor districts in Khatlon.
Another project is being implemented in Sughd’s Asht distrit as well as in Khatlon’s Panj district and the Rushan district in Gorno Badakhshan.
According to Barotov, a total cost of both projects is 58 million U.S. dollars and they have completed 50 percent of work on the first project and 79 percent of work on the second one to this day.
The first project is expected to have been completed by the end of 2013 and the second one will be completed until the end of 2010, the PIU director said.
