The Government of Tajikistan has issued a decree banning the delivery of vehicles manufactured before year of 2005 into the country.

The ban will take effect on February 15, 2018.

The Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan and the Interior Ministry are ordered to provide control, customs clearance and registration of vehicles being delivered into the country.

Tajikistan has reportedly banned the vehicles manufactured before the year of 2005 in bid to combat effects of environmental pollution.

Recall, the deputy head of the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan, Azim Tursunzoda, told reporters in Dushanbe on January 26 that President Emomali Rahmon has ordered to study the issue of banning delivery of vehicles manufactured before the year of 2005 into the country.

According to him, the head of state is seriously concerned over the effects of car pollutants on the environment and congested traffic in Dushanbe.

The rate of customs duty on the delivery of new cars into the country was halved last year.

The new cars are those that were manufactured not more than a year ago with the kilometer age of not more than 10,000 kilometers.
