The summer press conferences of ministries and departments have ended. This time there were few sensational statements and "blunders" on the part of top officials – officials seriously and thoroughly prepared for answers, rather than journalists who were cautious and did not ask uncomfortable questions.
"Asia-Plus" nevertheless highlighted several interesting quotes that were heard in meetings with representatives of the press.
Kodiri Suhaili Abduhafizzoda, Head of the Department of State Protection of Children's Rights (told that there are more cases of domestic violence in the country than are recorded):
"Unfortunately, there are no separate statistics on the facts of domestic violence, which can significantly distort the official figures and not reflect the real scale of the problem in this direction."
Ilkhom Atoev, Deputy Head of the Communications Service of Tajikistan (about the fact that the re-registration period was extended until 2024 and whether the disconnections are legal):
"Now there are cases when 50-60 SIM cards are registered for one passport. This is a security threat. Therefore, we have to limit incoming calls, otherwise users will postpone re-registration further."
Kurbon Khakimzoda, Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan (on the irrational use of land resources):
"In many areas, existing opportunities to increase agricultural production are not being used due to inefficient use of land resources. For example, in the area of Rudaki, the forecast indicators for sowing for any of the crops, including potatoes, have not been met. In theory, this district, along with Vakhdat, should become the main one in providing the capital's markets with agricultural products."
Parviz Shodmonzoda, Head of “Tajik Air” (about the company's debts):
"The actual debt of the company is no more than two million dollars, and an increase in the amount to $23 million is unreasonable. The company has overdue a payment of two million dollars, and taking into account the penalty, the amount has increased to six million. In their explanations, the Lithuanians claimed that if we had repaid $6 million, it would have brought them $23 million. However, such a sum seems absurd and illogical”
Sharifjon Jumazoda, Chairman of the Local Development Committee (on renaming):
"Since November 2021, a special working group has studied more than 12.5 thousand toponyms and came to the conclusion that the names of 4 thousand 31 geographical objects and 802 settlements do not correspond to current realities.”
Ziedullo Abdulzoda, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan (on school uniforms):
"School principals in Tajikistan have no right to prevent parents from buying school uniforms freely. The purchase of a certain school uniform is not mandatory, and parents have the right to freely choose where to purchase the necessary uniform for a student. The directors of secondary schools can only help parents with the choice of school uniforms, if they ask for help.”
Azam Alizoda, Head of the Matchinsky district of Sughd region (on the transition to a cashless payment system):
"There are 6 thousand farms in the Matchinsky district that do not have accounts. In my personal opinion, institutions, enterprises and departments of the Matchinsky district are not ready to switch to a cashless payment system. Especially there will be problems when paying taxes. Because our people are used to paying in cash and are not ready for it".
Sherali Kabir, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan (about the defense industry):
"The armored vehicles produced in Tajikistan are in no way inferior to the vehicles produced by Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan today. Tajikistan is obliged to have its own defense industry.”
Bahriddin Sirodjiddinzoda, Director of the Export Agency of Tajikistan (on the problems of exporting agricultural products to the Russian Federation):
"Even under international sanctions, we can export to Russia any goods not included in the sanctions list, for example, agricultural products. There are no problems on our side...But there are a lot of inspections of our cars on the road, which are artificially delayed, but we had contracts for the supply of agricultural products to certain regions of the Russian Federation."
Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan (on the shortage of doctors):
"The shortage of medical personnel is characteristic not only for Tajikistan, it is a problem of all countries of the world. According to forecasts, there will be a shortage of personnel around the world in the coming years. For example, specialists from Russia travel to European countries to work."
Muzaffar Ashurien, Minister of Justice of Tajikistan (on why there are few lawyers in the country):
"Most of the lawyers in the country are former employees of law enforcement agencies, especially the prosecutor's office and the judiciary. After retirement, they start working in this field. They have no problems in professionalism, only there are some legal requirements, if they do not comply with which they will not be granted the status of a lawyer."
Firdavs Saidzoda, Deputy Mayor of Dushanbe (about the lack of urban transport):
"The problem is not of a critical nature. During the summer holidays, there is a slight decrease in the number of minibuses on this route...”
Rahimzoda Ramazon, Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan (about the suspects in the murder of Deputy Chairman of Orienbank Shukhrat Ismatulloev):
"The information that Dilshod Saidmurodov, nicknamed " Dilshod-handsome " - the main suspect in the abduction and murder - is a member of the Wagner PMCs, is not true. In cooperation with foreign colleagues, we will detain him, regardless of what organizations he is in."
Yusuf Rahmon, Prosecutor General of Tajikistan (on the detention of the director of the Dushanbe clinic "Ibni Sino" Abdukhalil Kholikzoda):
"In the past, before independence, he didn't have a penny in his pocket, and after 1992 he became the owner of millions of dollars and somoni. It was during the period of independence and thanks to the policy of the President of the country to support business. However, instead of being grateful for such a policy and conditions, he sharply criticized it, insulted Tajik people, insulted representatives of different regions of the country, incited hatred. He outlined all this in his book."
Nusratullo Salimzoda, head of Bobojon Gafurov district (about an accident involving his deputy Akbar Mukhiddinzoda):
"He was not under influence. Akbar Muhiddinzoda was taking his sick mother to the hospital at one o'clock in the morning when the accident occurred. Not the driver, but the pedestrian was drunk. Besides, there is no man without enemies."
