President Emomali Rahmon has shaken up a number of regional prosecutors, replacing them with experienced and young professional staff, the Tajik president’s official website said on February 14.   

In agreement with the President, experienced and young personnel with good professional skills were reportedly appointed to the positions of the first deputy prosecutor of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), the first deputy and deputy prosecutor of Khatlon Province, the deputy prosecutor of Khatlon Province in Kulob region, the prosecutor of GBA’s Rushan District, the prosecutor of Khatlon’s Qubodiyon District,  the prosecutors of the cities of Panjakent and Istiqlol and the district of Jabbor-Rasoulov in Sughd Province, the prosecutor of Roghun City, the prosecutor of Nourobod District, as well as the heads of a number of departments of the General Prosecutor's Office.

On the same day, the head of state reportedly received the newly appointed prosecutors for conversation.

During the meeting, Emomali Rahmon pointed to the necessity of raising the level of professionalism of prosecutors, overseeing the implementation of the country’s Constitution and laws, supervising the observance of law and order, preventing crimes, especially those related to terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and land sales, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

A great attention was reportedly paid to their language skills, and the president emphasized that knowledge of the state language at a high level and the same mastering of two foreign languages is one of the important duties of every civil servant.

The Tajik president’s official website says Emomali Rahmon gave them a one-year deadline for the in-depth study of foreign languages.
