On Saturday, November 2, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon sent a message of sympathy to Spanish King Felipe VI over heavy rainstorms and floods in Spain.
The Tajik president’s official website sys the telegram, in particular, reads:
"Your Majesty,
“We were deeply grieved by the sad news of the great casualties and destruction caused by heavy rains and floods in the south-eastern regions of Spain.
“In these difficult moments, I express my sincere sympathy and condolences to You, the relatives of the victims of the tragic disaster and all the friendly people of Spain. I wish full recovery to all the injured.”
On October 29, 2024, torrential rain caused by an isolated low-pressure area at high levels brought over a year's worth of precipitation to several areas in eastern Spain, including the Valencian Community, Castilla–La Mancha, and Andalusia. The resulting floodwaters caused the deaths of at least 217 people and substantial property damage. It is one of the deadliest natural disasters in Spanish history.
