Authorities in Dushanbe will impose traffic restrictions from October 8 to 12 due to a series of high-level international events taking place in the Tajik capital.  The Dushanbe Police Department announced that the movement of vehicles will be limited along the routes designated for official delegations.

The restrictions are being introduced in anticipation of the arrival of numerous foreign delegations, including heads of state.  Drivers are strongly advised to avoid using private vehicles during this period and instead rely on public transportation.  Officials also urged residents not to park their cars along protocol routes to ensure the smooth movement of official motorcades and public transport.

While the specific times and exact streets affected by the closures have not been disclosed, the Dushanbe Police Department confirmed that roadblocks will occur intermittently throughout the five-day period. The restrictions will primarily impact protocol streets used by official delegations, although detailed information will be announced closer to the events.

Dushanbe set to host major international summits

On October 10, Dushanbe will host the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit.

A day earlier, on October 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to arrive in Tajikistan on a state visit. The leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks focusing on regional cooperation and key issues on the diplomatic agenda.

They will also participate in the “Central Asia – Russia” summit, bringing together heads of state from the region.

The last CIS summit was held on October 8, 2024, in Moscow under Russia's chairmanship, where it was decided that Tajikistan would assume the rotating presidency of the organization starting January 1, 2025.

The inaugural “Central Asia – Russia” summit took place in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, in October 2022, commemorating 30 years of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Central Asian nations.
