DUSHANBE, July 4, 2016, Asia-Plus – 120 young officers have joined Tajik border troops.
The diploma granting ceremony that took place at the “Poytakht” Training Center in Dushanbe on July 2 was attended by Lieutenant-General Saymumin Yatimov, Head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), Lieutenant-General Rajabali Rahmonali, Commander of Tajik Border Troops, representatives of the Russian Border Operational Group, as well as parents and relatives of young border officers.
The Border Troops, also called the Border Service, is the border security force of Tajikistan. Functioning under the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, the border guards are trained by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), along with the Afghan Border Police. A higher border officers’ training school, the Border Troops Academy, is located in Dushanbe and a Border Troops Training Center is located in the Roudaki District.
The Border Troops Academy was established in 2001 and the first 28 border officers graduated from it in 2004. To-date, the Border Troops Academy has trained more than 720 border officers.
