DUSHANBE, August 11, 2011, Asia-Plus - Moscow’s Department of the Tajik Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan was recently informed about severe violation of the rights of Tajik labor migrants working in the Russian city of Krasnodar.
According to the Tajik Embassy in Russia, Russian shoe producer “Emalto” has been violating the Russian labor legislation for a long period of time. The company, which mainly uses rubber materials for shoe production, refused to pay salary to 40 labor migrants from Sughd area of Tajikistan.
Additionally, the company took labor migrants’ passports away and limited their freedom of movement and, thus, violated the Law.
“As a result of measures undertaken by the Russian Federal Migration Service and Prosecutor’s Office, migrants were paid their salaries and received their IDs back,” the source has said.
On August 9 most of these migrants returned back to Tajikistan. The activity of the shoe producing company is being audited.
