DUSHANBE, January 25, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- School principals holding these positions for five and more years will not be replaced spontaneously, the Dushanbe education directorate chairperson Gulnora Boboyeva said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to her, a special commission has been set up to assess the professionalism of school principals.  “The commission will take into account achievements of schools and participation of school students in republican and international school Olympiads, said Boboyeva.  “Besides, the commission members will also take into consideration the professionalism of teachers and infringements committed by school students.”

The decision to replace school principals holding these positions for five and more years is also aimed at preventing corruption in Dushanbe’s schools, she added.

On the issue of issuance of faked school-leaving certificates by some high schools, Boboyeva noted that such cases had been revealed in schools ## 4, 11, 27, 52 and 97.

140 secondary schools now function in Dushanbe.

We will recall that Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev has offered to replace school principals and hospital head physicians holding these positions for five and more years.  The mayor held the meeting on January 23 to discuss the implementation of president’s orders and instructions on promoting socioeconomic development of the capital city.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, notes the meeting, in particular, considered issues related to issuance of faked school-leaving certificates by a number of high schools in Dushanbe and juvenile delinquency in the city.  According to him, the mayor ordered to dismiss all school principals, district education department heads and city hospital head physicians holding those positions for more than five years.  They will be replaced by promising young specialists, the spokesman added.
