A 9-year-old Mahina Ghaniyeva from Tajikistan has undergone successful heart surgeries under the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives ((MBRGI).  She touchingly thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for helping her.

Mahina Ghaniyeva suffered from atrial septal defect, which means she had four holes in her heart.  She underwent successful heart surgeries under Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charitable Establishment, which is under MBRGI.

Khaleej Times notes that Mahina Ghaniyeva is one of the 70 million people who have been helped by initiatives under the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives.

A touching scene unfolded at the annual report launch of the MBRGI Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives when His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum hugged Mahina.

After Mahina bravely spoke on stage, Sheikh Mohammed called her down and hugged her.  She held on to him tightly, creating a touching and heartfelt scene at the event, which was being held at Dubai Opera.

“I want to thank Sheikh Mohammed and his foundation for helping me. I am feeling better now and I am very happy,” Mahina said on stage.

After Sheikh Mohammed opened his iftar at the event, he approached Mahina again, hugged her, kissed her forehead and handed his pin to her.

“When I came to the UAE, I saw photos of all of the sheikhs and I wanted to know who they are. This country really helped me and I am very grateful,” Mahina told Khaleej Times.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) is a philanthropic foundation based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  MBRGI was launched in 2015, consolidating some 33 philanthropic initiatives undertaken by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum over the past two and more decades.

MBRGI defines its work under five pillars: humanitarian aid and relief; healthcare and disease control; spreading education and knowledge; innovation and entrepreneurship; and empowering communities.

The initiatives and organizations falling under the Humanitarian Aid & Relief pillar seek to provide urgent aid and relief to communities affected by crises and disasters.  They offer aid and developmental support for communities facing challenges such as poverty and conflict.

MBRGI's work within the scope of the Healthcare & Disease Control pillar aims to alleviate the suffering of communities lacking access to proper medical treatment, as well as dealing with basic health issues.  It takes preventative measures against infectious diseases and contributes to the eradication of debilitating communicable diseases.  Support is provided through awareness campaigns, treatment programs, research funding and enabling medical staff and health workers.
