A lab for implementation of COVID diagnostic test has been launched in Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
The acting head of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision Service of Tajikistan, Navrouz Jaffarov, says the virology lab in Khorog is capable of carrying out up to 110 PRC-based tests daily.
According to him, the lab for implementation of COVID diagnostic test began operating in Khorog on August 6 and three other virology labs are expected to be launched in other districts of the region.
“Representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP) were in GBAO from august 2 to August 7. On August 6, they installed the equipment at the lab and specialists began working,” Jaffarov said.
He further added that those specialists had taken a ten-day training course in Dushanbe on how to diagnose the disease correctly.
The training course was reportedly conducted by specialist from the Word Health Organization (WHO).
“At the moment, the rate of the disease has decreased in Gorno Badakhshan, however, the laboratory in this region is always needed,” the head of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision Service said.
Eleven labs for implementation of COVID diagnostic test now operate in Dushanbe, Khujand, Bokhtar, Kulob and Khorog. Two of them are private ones.
