Tajik judoka Somon Mahmadbekov has won silver medal for Tajikistan at the 2021 Asian Judo Championships, finishing second in -73kh weight category.

In the final, he was defeated by Korean judoka An Chang-rim, gold medalist at the 2021 Judo World Masters held in Doha, Qatar.

In all, three Tajik judokas – Somon Mahmadbekov (-73kg), Haqnazar Nazarov (-81kg) and Akmal Murodov (-81kg) – competed at the 2021 Asian Judo Championships , which took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from April 5 to April 9, 2021.  

195 athletes, including 112 men and 83 women, from 29 countries participated in the 2021 Asian Judo Championships in Bishkek.

Recall, Somon Mahmadbekov won gold medal finishing first in the -73kg category at the World U-21 Judo Championships that was held in Marrakech, Morocco, and bronze medal at the Osaka Grand Slam 2019, finishing third in the -73kg weight category.
