During the second wave of COVID-19, fourteen coronavirus-linked deaths have been registered in Sughd province, Farrukh Maqsoudzoda, the head of the Sughd Health Directorate, told reporters in Khujand on August 3.
“In all, 44 coronavirus-linked deaths have been reported in the province since May 1, 2020; fourteen of them have been reported in the area after June 21, 2021, since the beginning of the second wave,” Maqsoudzoda said, noting that the majority of them died in hospitals.
At the same time, he noted that the number of those who were cured has increased while the number of COVID-19 cases has decreased in the province in recent week.
“To-date, 268 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized in Sughd; 124 of them have been connected to ventilators,” said Maqsoudzoda. “As of August 3, 362 people have undergone outpatient treatment, including 208 people diagnosed with pneumonia and 153 others tested positive for COVID-19.”
According to him, up to 46 new cases of COVID-19 are registered in the province every day.
“Most cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the cities of Khujand, Istravshan, Isfara and Panjakent as well as in Spitamen and Bobojon-Ghafourov districts,” Maqsoudzoda added.
