The Russia-NATO Council held a closed-door seminar in Oslo to discuss the role of nuclear armaments in national security strategies.
The meeting of experts from the defense and foreign ministries aimed to build up confidence and to ensure transparency.
The openness and the dialog about nuclear doctrines are important for all members of the Russia-NATO Council, Norwegian Deputy Defense Minister Espen Barth Eide told the Norwegian Telegraph Bureau.
In his opinion, disarmament cooperation between Russia and the alliance is positive.
The previous seminar took place in 2000. Eide noted that the new event symbolized the restoration of Russia-NATO relations after the South Caucasian conflict of last August.
