DUSHANBE, November 21, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Young boxer from Gorno Badakhshan Oraz Afzalshoyev won the 2009 Republican Boxing Championships in -54kg category and has won a slot on the national boxing team of Tajikistan.
Oraz Afzalshoyev is the bronze medalist of the 2nd international boxing tournament, Pavlyukov Memorial, which was held in Anapa, Russia last month.
According to Oraz’s coach Gulrukh Nazarbekov, Oraz is a promising young boxer and he deserves to represent Tajikistan in international tournaments.
“Wining the country’s championships, Oraz has won a slot on the national team of the country and he is expected to represent Tajikistan in the 2010 Asian Boxing Championships in the -54 kg category,” said Nazarbekov, “The head of the GBAO Boxing Federation Khursand Bakhtaliyev has personally sponsored Oraz’s participation in different tournaments.”
The 2009 Republican Championships was held in Dushanbe on November 17-20 and boxers from all regions of the country took part in the competitions.
