QURGHON TEPPA, August 14, Asia-Plus -- Journalist at the Khatlon regional TV, Ms. Asalmoh Safarova, has been elected chairperson of the Khatlon branch of Tajik Journalists’ Union, Akbarali Sattorov, the head of Tajik Journalists’ Union, announced at a conference of the Khatlon branch of Tajik Journalists’ Union in Qurghon Teppa on August 11.
Besides, nine persons were elected to the board of the Khatlon branch of the Union of Journalists of Tajikistan. All of those elected to the board are representatives from the state-run media, except Davlat Shoetiborov, who represents independent media.
Commenting on the present state of media in Tajikistan, Mr. Sattorov noted that representatives from media should operate in all districts of the republic in order to provide socially significant information operationally. He also noted that the Union would analyze the media situation in all regions and provide assistance them as far as possible in tackling problems facing them.
Former member of the board of the Khatlon branch of Tajik Journalists’ Union, Umar Kamolov, who works with the Qurghon Teppa TV, has said in his interview with Asia-Plus that the immediate task of the new administration of the Khatlon branch of Tajik Journalists’ Union is in resuming its activity.
Ms. Asalmoh Safarova telling the conference pointed to the necessity of registration of members of the Tajik Journalists’ Union in the province.
