DUSHANBE, November 13, Asia-Plus - Three other cotton-growing districts in Tajikistan are nearing the completion of their targets.
Deputy Agriculture Minister, Qodir Qsimov, said that Zafarobod (92%) and Mastchoh (90.9%) in the Sughd province and Kolkhozobod (91%) have potentials to fulfill their cotton targets by November 20.
According to him, districts subordinate to the center (central Tajikistan) have yielded 48,300 tons of cotton by November 13, over-fulfilling their target of 46,700 tons of cotton by 3.6 percent.
Cotton growers in Khatlon have yielded 255,300 tons of cotton to this day, which is 77.6 percent of the targeted 329,000 tons.
The northern province of Sughd has pledged to produce 171,300 tons of cotton this year. Sughd has gathered 131,600 tons of cotton by November 13, which is 76.7 percent of the target.
The republic has yielded 435,300 tons of cotton by November 13, which comprises 79.6 percent of this year’s target determined at 547,000 tons of cotton.
