DUSHANBE, July 19, Asia-Plus — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon is expected to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan in mid-August, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi announced at a news conference in Dushanbe yesterday.

According to him, the visit will take place on August 13-14 and it is supposed to result in signing of nine bilateral cooperation agreements.  

“Economic component is the main part of our relations with Azerbaijan,” said the minister, “Thus, 75 percent of alumina is exported to Tajikistan.”  

We will recall that Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev visited Tajikistan last March.  The sides signed eleven bilateral documents, including an agreement on visa-free travel.  The presidents of the two countries indicated our readiness to expand cooperation in all spheres, including economy and trade.
