Power outages have begun in rural areas of Sughd and Khatlon provinces as well as districts subordinate to the center.  Authorities, however, say no power rationing has been launched in the country.  

Residents of a number of districts say they have no electricity from 8:00 am to 5:00pm and then from midnight to morning.  

A resident of Istaravshan (Sughd province), who introduced himself as Nematullo M., told Asia-Plus that over the past two days, they have not had electricity from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am.

Residents of the cities of Khujand, Guliston and Buston have also been left without electricity for several hours at different times of the day.

Fifteen large villages subordinate to the city of Panjakent have also had not electricity from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for already more than 10 days.    

Residents of villages subordinate to the city of Tursunzoda (western Tajikistan) have also had not have regular electricity for more than ten days.   

People write in social media networks that residential customers practically in all districts and cities of the Khatlon province have not had regular electricity for already several days.

Meanwhile, officials from local power supply networks say they periodically cut off electricity in order to carry out to carry out preventive maintenance on electrical substations and power transmission lines. 

Thus, the head of the Sughd power supply network Toura Atamov says repair work is being carried out on power transmission lines and transformers in order to prepare pump stations for a new sowing season.  

Rajabali Boyakov, the engineer-in-chief of the power supply network that works 12 districts in the Khatlon province, says power outages are temporary and have a prophylactic effect.
