DUSHANBE, April 7, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Tajik national Maqsoudjon Ismatov has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on suspicion of having been involved in the murder of Sulim Yamadayev, ex-commander of Vostok, the Russian military special unit belonging to the foreign military intelligence directorate (GRU) of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation made up of Chechens, a source at Tajik MFA said, noting that they had received such an information from Tajikistan’s General Consulate in the UAE.
In the meantime, four persons, including Iranian citizen Mahdi Lornia, were detained on suspicion of having been involved in the murder of Sulim Yamadayev, some Russian media reported.
We will recall that BBC Online reported on March 31 that the chief of Dubai''s police said Sulim Yamadayev died after a March 28 assassination attempt.
