Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday held talks with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Beijing on the sidelines of the second Belt and Road forum.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, they discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Rahmon and Mirziyoyev, in particular, exchanged views on issues related to developing and implementing investment projects, constructing social facilities in territories of both countries as well as expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between their countries and creation of favorable conditions for unimpeded movement of citizens.
Over the first quarter of this year, the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has valued at 62 million U.S. dollars.
Both sides agreed to continue work on diversification of goods and intensification of trade that will allow increasing the bilateral trade by 500 million U.S. dollars in the coming years, the Tajik president’s website said.
