At the invitation of Tajikistan, the CIS Observer Mission for the presidential elections in the republic and its Headquarters on September 21 began to monitor the election campaign.
As part of observing the presidential elections, a meeting of long-term observers from the CIS with the chairman of the Central Commission on Elections and Referendums of Tajikistan Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda took place, the press service of the executive committee of the CIS reports.
The head of the CEC spoke about the course of the election campaign, as well as the work of election commissions at all levels in preparation for the elections. He noted that more than twenty recommendations, methodological manuals, brochures have been developed for the participants in the electoral process, the training of experts who will train members of precinct election commissions has been completed, work is underway among various categories of the population to explain the electoral legislation of the republic..
Observers from the CIS, in turn, spoke about the principles of the Mission and the organization of its work. It was emphasized that the work of the Mission is based on the documents adopted in the Commonwealth on the procedure for the implementation of international election observation. At the same time, CIS observers proceed from the assumption that elections are an internal affair of the state, and the mission's task is to assist election organizers in conducting the election campaign in accordance with national legislation.
