Speaking at the Second Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan's Neighboring Countries + Russia in Tehran, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin noted on October 27 that the current situation in Afghanistan requires from the nearest neighbors of Afghanistan to make more effort to restore peace and stability in that country, according to the Tajik MFA information department.  

The current situation in Afghanistan lately has been a problem not only for the Afghan people but also one of the most acute regional and global problems, Tajik foreign minister said.  

He further noted that Tajikistan strongly condemned all forms of lawlessness, murders, robberies and the persecution of the Afghan people. 

Tajikistan cannot remain indifferent in this dark time for Afghanistan, when the entire Afghan people are on the brink of a humanitarian disaster, Muhriddin said.  

He noted that Tajikistan has always supported the restoration of lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan and remains committed to this position. 

Tajik foreign minister also expressed concern about the situation in Afghanistan’s Panjshir province as well as lack of democratic foundations, violation of human rights, in particular the rights of women.  

He noted that Tajikistan has always supported the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan with the participation of all ethnic groups and social players.  

Tajik foreign minister one again called on the international community to take urgent measures to provide peace and stability in Afghanistan and stabilize the difficult political and security situation as soon as possible through negotiations. 

Recall, the first meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighbors -- Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Iran and China -- took place in a virtual format on September 8, 2021.  

The ministers stressed the need to promote this format for discussing the current situation in Afghanistan, as a new mechanism for cooperation between neighboring countries.

The sides stressed that the international community, in cooperation with the countries of the region, should play an important role in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan and provide it with the necessary economic, social and humanitarian assistance.

Tajik Foreign Ministers Sirojiddin Muhriddin noted that an inclusive government with the participation of all ethnic groups and national minorities should work in Afghanistan to urgently resolve the political problems and security of the country. He added that we do not recognize any government formed without a referendum and representatives of all ethnic groups.
