Sergei Mironov, chairman of the "Fair Russia for Truth" party, called for a moratorium until 2030 on granting citizenship and residence permits to migrants from Central Asia. He told the "gazeta.ru", that the increased flow of migrants poses a threat to the national security of the Russian Federation.

According to Mironov, the flow of migrants to Russia continues to grow and is becoming increasingly difficult to control. According to the Interior Ministry, in the first six months of 2025, about 114 thousand work permits were issued to foreigners, which is one and a half times more than in the same period last year.

In total, according to official estimates, there are more than 6.5 million migrants in the country, but only a few of them are working. The rest are family members who, according to Mironov, do not work, but use social infrastructure, including hospitals and schools.

The deputy believes that such a situation poses a direct threat to the national security and well-being of Russian citizens.

According to him, the "Fair Russia" party has already submitted to the State Duma a number of bills aimed at restoring order in the field of migration. But no decisions have been made yet, Mironov called for a moratorium on granting citizenship and residence permits to migrants from Central Asian countries by 2030.

"This is the only way we can stabilize the situation and solve all the problems that arise today due to the mass arrival of foreign citizens in the country," - he stressed.

The politician has repeatedly made similar initiatives before. In 2022, he proposed to ban the granting of citizenship to citizens of Tajikistan, but did not receive support. In 2024, Mironov again insisted on a temporary moratorium for residents of Central Asia, but his proposal also did not find a response.

Earlier, the same deputy put forward the idea of banning migrant workers from bringing their families to Russia.
