The 10th Dushanbe International Book exhibition, entitled “Kitobi Dushanbe” (The Book of Dushanbe), kicked off in the Tajik capital on December 14. Initiated by the Ministry of Culture, the exhibition will last until December 16.
Recently published books of domestic and foreign publishing houses also book represented by embassies of foreign countries, including Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Turkiye, have been put in display at the book fair that is being held at the Opera and Ballet Theater.
In all, twenty-nine publishing houses, including eight foreign ones, are participating in the exhibition that is open from 9:00 to 17:00.
The books put on display at the exhibition are on a variety of topics: culture; medicine; children’s literature; textbooks; cooking; and so forth.
Various booklets and guidebooks have also been put on display at the exhibition.
Recall, the Government of Tajikistan in March 2013 made a decision to hold the Dushanbe international book exhibition every year on September 3 to coincide with a Book Day. But not always the exhibition was held on September 3. Thus, in 2014, the Dushanbe Book Exhibition entitled “The Book and Integration of Universal Values” was held on October 3-5 on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the great Persian and Tajik Sufi poet Nour ad-Din Abd ar-Rahman Jami, which was celebrated on October 4.
